VCU Rotaract Officers

  • Shreya Balasani, President

I am a senior at VCU majoring in Biology with a minor in Art History on the Pre-Med track. I was heavily involved with Interact throughout my high school experience and am so excited to continue that civic engagement here in Richmond through Rotaract.

  • Iyush Hoysal, Vice President

I am a junior at VCU majoring in Bioinformatics with a minor in Chemistry and Computer Science, following the Pre-Medicine track. Inspired by my grandparents and great-grandparents, who were deeply involved with Rotary International, I am committed to continuing their legacy of service and making a lasting impact.

  • Riya Achuri, Treasurer

I am in my junior year of pre-med at VCU and have been a member of the Rotaract Club at VCU for the past year.  I am also part of an nationally university based organization Camp Kesem -dedicated to helping families that have been impacted by cancer. I am especially interested in Rotary and Kesem fundraising events in the upcoming year.

  • Annalise Gettier, Secretary

I am a freshman on the pre-nursing track at VCU. During high school, I served as secretary of VInteract, dedicated to involvement and service within my community. I obtained my Nursing Assistant Certification my senior year and was a Junior Volunteer at TriCities Hospital. I am a member of the Latin Student Association (LSA) and Future Health Professionals (HOSA).

Weekly, I volunteer with the Peter Paul RVA after school tutoring program through VCU Acceleration, as I am a part of the VCU Acceleration Cohort of 2025. I am dedicated to making changes with service with Rotaract at VCU.

  • Zahra Sandifer, Public Relations/Social Media

My name is Zahra Sandifer, and I am a freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in Biology on the Pre-Medical track with aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon.

Throughout high school, I was deeply involved in my community through both service and leadership. I served as a team lead for Phantoms READ, an award-winning literacy initiative where my peers and I visited local elementary schools each month to help students strengthen their reading and comprehension skills.

In addition, I earned my Associate of Science degree before graduating high school. I am a part of VCU Acceleration and through that I volunteer with Peter Paul RVA for an afterschool tutoring program. I’m excited to continue giving back and making a difference through Rotaract at VCU, using service as a way to empower others and create lasting change.

  • Dhanush Bearelly, Events/Service Projects

I'm a student in the GMED Program at VCU! I’ve been passionate about service for years, inspired to improve access to STEM education and healthcare through my nonprofit, No Friend Left Behind. My leadership roles, including serving as Ohio HOSA’s State Vice President and organizing community projects in my hometown of Cincinnati, have reinforced my commitment to making a meaningful impact. I’m thrilled to contribute to the VCU Rotaract's mission, and I look forward to collaborating with our members to serve the community and create positive change.
